Jejunal Adenocarcinoma: An Unusual Cause of Small Bowel Obstruction
نویسنده
چکیده
Small bowel obstruction is a frequent surgical emergency. Adhesional obstruction is the commonest cause in patients who have had previous abdominal surgery. In those without previous abdominal surgery common causes of obstruction include obstructed hernias and metastatic malignancy involving the small bowel. Rarer causes include small bowel volvulus, stricturing Crohn’s disease, small bowel diaphragm disease caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug use [1], and small bowel tumours including lymphoma, neuroendocrine tumour, gastrointestinal stromal tumour and small bowel adenocarcinoma. Computerised tomography (CT) will often provide a pre-operative diagnosis to help plan surgical management. Herein we present a case of small bowel obstruction caused by a primary jejunal adenocarcinoma. The details are in the case description below. Abstract

Nosocomial Jejunal Mucormycosis - an Unusual Cause of Perforation Peritonitis
Mucormycosis is a rare but highly invasive opportunistic fungal infection. Gastrointestinal disease although uncommon is highly fatal. We report a case of jejunal mucormycosis in a 24 year old undernourished female with preceding surgical intervention for acute intestinal obstruction of tubercular etiology. On 8th post-operative day, she developed oozing from suture line, prompting e...
متن کاملJejunal adenocarcinoma with concomitant enterolith presenting as acute intestinal obstruction.
An enterolith is an infrequent clinical entity. It is generally diagnosed on imaging or at surgery. It is usually associated with underlying benign lesions like intestinal tuberculosis or Crohn's disease. Here, we report an unusual case of an elderly lady presenting with an acute small-bowel obstruction. On admission, her abdominal X-ray revealed a radio-opacity obstructing the jejunum. Her sub...

he incidence of the diverticulum of the small bowel varies from 0.2-1.3% in autopsy studies to 2.3% when assessed on enteroclysis. It occurs mostly in patients in the 6th decade of their life. Of all the small bowel diverticuli, jejunal diverticulum is the most common type. This rare entity is usually asymptomatic. However, they may cause chronic non-specific symptoms for a long period of time ...
متن کاملA rare case of primary small bowel adenocarcinoma with intussusception.
Other than in childhood, intussusception is unusual and nearly always caused by a structural and well demonstrable lesion. In contrast with the colon tract, the incidence of primary malignancies in the small bowel is very low. We report the case of a 51-year-old man presenting with jejunal intussusception due to a primary adenocarcinoma. To our knowledge, only a few similar cases have been repo...
